Weekend Gallery Visit ~ Design District
This exhibition is comprised of puzzle collages by Al Souza & sculpture work by James Sullivan. A perfect curatorial match, Souza’s vibrant colors and dizzying patterns are grounded by Sullivan’s structural and monochromatic pieces. Both artists play with textures and the use of everyday objects.

Holly Johnson Gallery Virgil Grotfeldt, Memories & Transformations
This is a collection of his mid -career work. The artist passed away in 2009, but his prolific career lives on as his legacy. His work is fascinating up close. He used a special coal dust from mines in Europe to create an iridescent sparkle to his otherwise dark, smokey paintings.

Check out Jessica’s mirror ~ re -blogged above ~ for an up-close look at the art.
