Top 5 things from the Dallas Art Fair
5) spotting Laura Bush with one of my favorite artists @ the fair ~ Carlos Betancourt

4) The heated debate @ the Finding Frida Symposium discussing the controversial works in the Noyola Fernandez Collection ~ Decide for yourself ~ is it real or fraud? Check out our album on the Facebook fan page ~ Dallas Contemporary ~ for a look at the collection.

3) Choice Cuts by The Public Trust owner Brian Gibb ~ We love this quirky addition to the VIP lounge not just for it’s creativity but becuase it provides a crucial component for a successful fair ~ curatorial work beyond the typical gallery booth. We hope to see more non revenue based curatorial work next year! (great example @ Frieze fair ~ london)

2) The 30+ satelite art projects held in conjunction with the Dallas Art Fair, including gallery launches, exhibition openings, new alternative arts space gatherings, and even an entire art fair. This is great for building permanent infastructure in our community.

1) The optimistic spirit of every gallery owner participating in the fair, from both near & far. How refreshing to walk from booth to booth and not see the typically jaded dealer simply going through the motions of yet another fair. The Dallas Art Fair really has something special to bring to the international fair circuit ~ galleries, dealers, & collectors responded to that in the best way.
