While working at Art Dubai I got a chance to pay homage to one of my favorite exhibitions - Iran Inside Out. I first met the exhibition in NYC @ the Chelsea Art Museum. It was love at first sight. The exhibit was aesthetically flawless, a perfect 10 in the beauty category. Unlike most infatuations with beauty, which end up being fleeting attractions, this exhibition had substance - the full...

Weekend Gallery Visit ~ Design District
Conduit Gallery
This exhibition is comprised of puzzle collages by Al Souza & sculpture work by James Sullivan. A perfect curatorial match, Souza’s vibrant colors and dizzying patterns are grounded by Sullivan’s structural and monochromatic pieces. Both artists play with textures and the use of everyday objects.

Called “project space” , this online portal gives emerging artists the chance to exhibit work online in the form of video or slide show. browse through them all, they are great ~ I would love to know which ones are your favorites!

So… my dear friend Sara Rice has one of the coolest apartments EVER. She has the largest collection of “Pinky Art” in the world. Pinky Diablo sells his art at Dolly Python… you might have seen his “skull spoons” in FD Luxe. Here is a VERY small look at her extensive collection (not all of it is “Pinky Art”)!

So I know that Art Basel Miami was sooooo last year. But in light of the Dallas Art Fair this weekend, I thought it would be interesting to reflect on the event. It could be fun to compare, maybe we will see some similar trends? Even Paper City couldn’t resist the urge to compare the two! Oh, and not to mention I can finally use some great material I have been storing since back in...

Fort Worth Modern + a Pit Stop @ Fred's
This past weekend I traveled to Fort Worth to check out the Fort Worth Modern. Along the way I wound up at a tiny little diner called Fred’s. Expecting to find some dingy lighting and maybe a juke box I was shocked to find a home-grown Texas art exhibition. If Walker Texas Ranger were a curator, this would be his museum. Not to say that this quirky little joint wasn’t in good taste...
One of my favorite artists of all time is Francis Bacon, so I was delighted when I flipped through the latest issue of TOKION & stumbled across an insert dedicated to a group of new artists re-examining & revolutionizing the art of portraiture

the Dallas contemporary has postponed the opening exhibition with the future date to be determined. The press release cites the following

the necessary elements in time to achieve a Certificate of Occupancy. With
respect for city regulations, Dallas...
Interview
so the interview is a little lengthy, what can I say I have an inquisitive mind. Thanks to the artist for putting up with my excessive questioning, you had a lot of interesting things to say!
Question: So I wanted to give DC fans a behinds the scenes look at the artist and exhibition. I always find it very telling of how an artist comes to be an artist – so I’ll start with the question – Have...
Inaugural Exhibition @ 161 Glass ~ Opens Friday...
Just before Christmas I had the chance to interview the first artist to exhibit work in our new building @ 161 Glass. James Gilbert, a young talent from LA, has exhibited work around the world. His art reflects both the novelties of pop culture and the universal, even primordial nature of the human psyche.
His current project is titled Warnings and Instructions. It’s a large – scale,...
